OPINION: Tour de France route, Quintana-Landa-Valverde rival leadership, salary caps in cycling. 18-10-2017. Art. 1

Today, the 17th October, the much waited Tour de France route has been revealed. There have been mixed reactions by cyclists with big chances to win the race. This route is thought not to favour Froome nor Bardet. There has been controversy recently with people saying that the organisers favour French riders. This has not happened in this route of the Tour. Next year Dumoulin could be the first to beat Froome in the Tour (without counting 2014 where he abandoned) sinse 2013.

Another interesting decision made in cycling recently is Landa's move from Team Sky to Movistar. Landa was complaining about having to have a secondary role in the team when he deserved a leadership role. To solve this problem he went to Movistar, the team that already has 2 leaders. Instead of disputing the leadership of the team, he will be doing his best to be second in the team, after recently Quintana announced he would be undisputed leader in the team.

Recently variouss important images in cycling (like Alberto Contador) said that salary caps was the answer to Sky's dominance in cycling. This is a good idea but I do not know how it would be put into cycling.

STAGE 4 Giro d'Italia

The stage was the next true challenge after the first short, technical, time trial. Starting the stage Rohan Dennis was in pink with a one second advantage on Tom Dumoulin, winner of stage 1. The stage started with a breakaway of 5 riders, consisting of Jacopo Mosca (Willier-Triestina), Quentin Jauregui (AG2R-La Mondiale), Maxim Belkov (Katusha-Alpecin),  Enrico Barbin (Barbiani), Marco Frapporti (Androni-Giacotolli). BMC controlled the race for the first 60 km, while the mountain jersey, Enrico Barbin took mountain points over the small categorised climbs along the way. UAE Team Emirates made an acceleration with 105 km. to go over the feed zone, making it hard for cyclists to get their essential food and drink. This decision was quite controversial. Their attack brought the breakaway difference right down to 25", but after that the race continued. With 60 k...
