ASO pulls its competitions out of the world tour classification.

ASO, the company that owns the Tour de France want to pull all their competitions out of the World Tour classification and put them into the category below: .HC. They will do this in 2017.
They will do this because they want to make the Tour have less people in it, they will be able to limit the teams and not let all the world tour teams in to the French competition.

This is the route of the Tour de France 2018 which has been announced today. Thsi route favours neither Froome nor Bardet. It has a long team time trial and indivisual time trial. This route could favour Dumpoulin who in many peoples' opinion is favourite for next years' tour over reigning chamion Froome.
