The Australian Simon Gerrans comes back from injury to win the Tour Down Under. Despite losing 20 seconds on the mountain stage he was still able to hold on to his advantage. Richie Porte and Sergio Henao completed the podium respectively.
Viviani wins the second stage in Dubai and goes first in the GC. Team Sky protected Viviani from the crashes where Kittel and Cavendish got held up. Cavendish got back to the main group but was too tired to finish above tenth place. Swift launched Viviani to win the stage. ASO, the company that owns the Tour de France want to pull all their competitions out of the World Tour classification and put them into the category below: .HC. They will do this in 2017. They will do this because they want to make the Tour have less people in it, they will be able to limit the teams and not let all the world tour teams in to the French competition.
